![]() ![]() I booted into TeraByte’s BootIt UEFI, deleted the partition for the B side OS, then slid the A side OS to right behind the EFI partition. But I wanted to move the A side OS not that it makes any difference where it is on the SSD, just that I wanted to see it there in front. I rebooted to the A side to be certain that the BCD was still good for that side, and it was. Then I moved the B side OS to the SSD/partition for the B side Users by restoring the OS drive image there, overwriting B side Users. Those drive images have been living on a 1TB Samsung SATA III SSD. The first thing I did was move my OS, Users and Programs drive images to the new 1TB NVMe, just to speed up the things to come a bit. Next I decided to start moving things around. I also bought a 1TB Samsung NVMe SSD and a PCIe adapter to mount it, and plugged that into a PCIe slot. Then I made full drive images of all drives January 4, so my fallback was good to go. ![]() I had intentions of getting that setup back to my original preference of splitting up the OS installations, Users partitions and Program Files partitions on different drives, but kept putting it off. I did a fairly simple migration of everything, and still had both OS installations on the same NVMe SSD. ![]() In June 2022, I did a major hardware upgrade, new motherboard, RAM, two more NVMe SSD’s and the three SATA SSD’s I already had. I have a laptop I can use if that were to happen, but I still wasn’t particularly satisfied with the situation. That never happened, but it was always in the back of my mind. If the mSATA SSD went belly up, I couldn’t boot to the other side. I migrated both OS installations to the single SSD because of the increased speed, but that left me with a nagging vulnerability. Then in mid-2019 I upgraded my motherboard, and the new board had an mSATA SSD slot. This basic system went through a few hardware upgrades. This also had a noticeable effect on efficiency, performance and stability. Later I expanded to four HDD’s, and moved the Program Files folders to the two additional HDD’s. This reduced startup times and also program load times, since DMA (Direct Memory Access) could read into RAM from both drives simultaneously. To increase efficiency and performance, I placed the Users folders for each OS on the other HDD, as well as the Program Files folders. Each OS installation was on a separate HDD.
